PDX Jazz at Friday Night Book Market

November 3, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Portland Art Museum

Beat the crowds and pack your bag with books the night before Portland Book Festival at our Friday Night Book Market. While shopping the fair, enjoy live music from PDX Jazz; wine, snacks, and refreshments from Cho Wines, For Bitter For Worse, and Little Bee; plus other fun activities.

Shop the book fair while listening to live music presented by our friends at PDX Jazz:

5:30-6:45 p.m.: The Cory Limuaco Trio featuring Sam Arnold and Santiago LaRochelle

Jazz musicians, at their best, love to dangle off a cliff, with only their wits and their fingertips holding themselves and whatever song they’re playing from complete disaster. Especially in a live setting, it’s a constant resetting of their creative boundaries, pushing up to and just beyond the edge every time.

Few players in Portland embody that concept better than drummer Cory Limuaco. He throws his full self into every performance, whether that’s working in the cosmic realm of Mae.Sun, blending neo-soul and fusion as a member of greaterkind, backing up superstar rapper Aminé, or deconstructing jazz and pop favorites with his own ensemble. He’s a daredevil with a fluid sense of time and a splashy attack who, as he put it on a recent Instagram post, plays “like it’s my last time, every time.”

7:05-8:20 p.m.: BrandonLee Cierley

While being a band leader and solo artist, BrandonLee has showcased his talents working with some of the music scene’s most exciting producers/artists around the world such as; LofiJazzSoul Founder/Portland based Trumpeter Farnell Newton, EyeLoveBrandon, Jonny Tobin, multi-instrumentalist from Portland Machado Mijiga, and Portland based Producer POSY to name a few. In 2018, BrandonLee Cierley ventured into exploits outside of his staple genre to be a guest artist with TwoFriends, LA Dj Duo, at sold out music festivals Lucky & Paradiso. Recently, BrandonLee has joined the stage with world renowned Saxophonist Mike Phillips who has played with musical giants such as Michael Jackson, Prince & Stevie Wonder for his appearance at the PDX Jazz Festival 2023.
