She is the winner of the 2021 Whiting Nonfiction Grant for her work on\u00a0<i>The Cost of Free Land<\/i>. Her journalism, for which she has won the Hillman Prize, an Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship, and ten grants from the Fund for Investigative Journalism, has appeared in such publications as\u00a0<i>MotherJones<\/i>,\u00a0<i>High Country News<\/i>,\u00a0<i>The Nation<\/i>,\u00a0and\u00a0<i>Indian Country Today<\/i>.
