In the Shadows: Maggie Stiefvater & Isabel Cañas

Young adult authors, Maggie Stiefvater and Isabel Cañas come together for a conversation on the hauntingly enchanted worlds in their latest releases. In the newest installment of the graphic novel iteration of The Raven Cycle, Stiefvater and adapter Sas Milledge bring the original text to life with rich illustrations and suspenseful panels. Like Stiefvater, Cañas expertly constructs a gothic world threatened by an unimaginable ancient power. Moderated by Alicia Tate, these authors discuss the mythical worlds they build and the characters that try to understand them.

Days of Love and Rage: Anand Gopal

Pulitzer and National Book Award finalist Anand Gopal is joined by moderator and OPB host Geoff Norcross for a conversation about his recent publication, Days of Love and Rage. This work of nonfiction follows a group of Syrian citizens who carry out a remarkable revolution against a brutal dictatorship in 2011. Through polarization, betrayal, allegiance, and inequity, Gopal expertly weaves a story of a single city’s struggle for democracy in the face of rising authoritarianism.
