Celebrate the life and legacy of comedy icon John Candy with the Portland launch of John Candy: A Life in Comedy, the definitive new biography from bestselling author Paul Myers. Drawing on extensive research and interviews with Candy’s closest collaborators—including Dan Aykroyd, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Steve Martin, and more—Myers paints a warm, funny, and deeply human portrait of one of comedy’s most beloved stars.
Following a conversation, we’ll screen John Hughes’ holiday classic Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987), starring Candy alongside Steve Martin. A rare chance to honor Candy’s enduring brilliance both on the page and on the big screen.
