Scott Campbell is a visual artist and sometime children’s book creator probably best known for the wildly popular Hug Machine picture book that came out in 2014. He’s also known for his hilarious Great Showdowns series of illustrations (which depict classic confrontations in film, television and elsewhere and which amassed him a large following on Instagram). His other children’s books include If Dogs Run Free (written by Bob Dylan!), XO OX: A Love Story, Skulls!, the Zombie In Love series, and Sleepy, the Goodnight Buddy. Cabin Head and Tree Head is the first of a young readers’ graphic novel series that came out last fall to much acclaim — including an American Library Association Notable Children’s Book of 2025, a School Library Journal Best Book of 2025, and a Kirkus Reviews Best Middle Grade of 2025. His second book featuring Cabin Head and Tree Head, Feeling Good!, was published in August 2026. He lives in Los Angeles.
